Apple Crisp
This delectable dessert is the perfect treat for any occasion!
Ingredients:
Filling:
- 7 medium apples, peeled, cored, sliced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (you can also use ground ginger)
- Pinch of salt
Crumb topping:
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2/3 cup old fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold, cut into cubes
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl combine apples and lemon juice. Add in filling ingredients and mix until combined.
- Grease a glass pie dish (or 8×8 baking dish)then pour in apple mixture and spread into an even layer.
- In a separate bowl combine topping ingredients, minus the butter.
- Once all the topping ingredients are combined, add in butter using a pastry blender (or 2 forks) and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
- Bake for 35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool for 1o minutes before serving.
- Serve with ice cream and caramel sauce (optional).
