Apple Crisp

This delectable dessert is the perfect treat for any occasion!



  • 7 medium apples, peeled, cored, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (you can also use ground ginger)
  • Pinch of salt

Crumb topping:

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold, cut into cubes


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a medium bowl combine apples and lemon juice. Add in filling ingredients and mix until combined.
  3. Grease a glass pie dish (or 8×8 baking dish)then pour in apple mixture and spread into an even layer.
  4. In a separate bowl combine topping ingredients, minus the butter.
  5. Once all the topping ingredients are combined, add in butter using a pastry blender (or 2 forks) and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 1o minutes before serving.
  8. Serve with ice cream and caramel sauce (optional).
